The lunar cycle is the age old and continuous orbit of the moon around the earth. We can view the progress of the moon’s path based on the appearance of it in the night sky. This is because the sun illuminates half of the moon at all times. From our position here on earth we see it from different angles as it cycles through it’s orbit and thus we only get to see the part of it which the sun is illuminating.
The moon goes through phases over the 29.5 days it takes to complete a cycle around the earth that are broken up and named based on the appearance. The first phase is the new moon, also called the dark moon, which is when it’s not visible to us. Then it moves into waxing crescent and onto the first quarter which is more often referred to as the half moon. After that is the waxing gibbous and then after that comes the full moon, where the moon appears fully illuminated. After that it gets smaller and the waning phases begin until it’s back at the beginning and a new moon starts the cycle anew.
Each moon phase stands for different aspects of human behavior and represents various characteristics of our personalities. Some of us fall under the new moon category and are thought to be very expressive, both creatively and emotionally, and impulsive. If you are a half moon soul then you’re inquisitive and strong minded. Full moon individuals tend to be more aware and driven.
