What ancient religion does your spirit belong to? How many ancient religions can you list? First, let’s determine what qualifies a religion as “ancient”. Certainly, it has to be old, but just how old is old? We can definitely disqualify the Church of Bey, which is the new religion built around the avatar Beyonce. This is not because the religion is not well founded, but it is just too young to be considered ancient. That was an easy one, but what about Christianity? It has been around for a couple thousand years, which seems ancient to us because our lives are so fleeting, but it is a mere moment in the life of, say, the planet.
Let’s try a different angle. What are the world’s oldest religions? The Egyptians were building the pyramids some thousands of years ago, and their religion was clearly alive and established at that time. In another corner of ancient earth there were druids, leaving signs of their religious practice that we still see today. There are countless pyramids and structures long lost to the recycling growth of crawling nature, all of which may have been central to some culture’s religious practice.
Could it be that in a past life you were a priestess of an ancient religion, one that existed before any of the widely practiced religions of present day? Maybe you were present at the making of Stonehenge, or designing one of the great pyramids of the Egyptians and Mayans. What residue would be left over from such a life of experience, and how might it color your present perspective? There is no way to be certain, maybe, although the possibility remains that it may not be what we might have thought it could be.
