It can be hard not to spontaneously start dancing when your favorite song comes on. As soon as you hear the tune something just clicks and the urge to get up and shake your tail kicks in.
That’s exactly how this charismatic young boy must have been feeling when the song “Cuban Pete” started playing while he was at a pool. The energetic kid has all the right moves and puts them on display as he dances all around the pool on the patio. He works the crowd and even interacts with a couple of onlookers. He throws in a cartwheel at one point, then jumps up in the air right after he lands it, and definitely makes a lasting impression on everyone there. His vigorous sashaying, shaking, and grooving has the other kids in the pool entranced, as their gazes are fixated on him. The confidence and pure delight he must be feeling is awesome to see and the show he puts on is wonderfully entertaining. While most people would be shy and hesitant to make such a scene and dance in front of others, he could care less. He is dancing like no one is watching and having the time of his life. The boy is proof that some music just speaks to our hearts and souls so much that we can’t help but break into a jig!
The tune playing, Cuban Pete, is a Cuban rumba song that was written and composed by Joseph Norman in 1936. Several artists have recorded it including Louis Armstrong, Desi Arnaz, and Ricky Ricardo. The young boy in the video is likely familiar with it because Jim Carrey performed it in his 1994 hit movie The Mask. Carrey sang and danced his cinematic version of the song in a lively fashion, and the boy’s snappy moves are similar to his. The kid has some serious talent and knows how to engage his audience. Perhaps in the future he will be a dancer or entertainer because he is a natural at performing and clearly enjoys doing it!
