The holidays are meant to be a time spent relaxing and catching up with family and loved ones, but in reality they’re often more stressful than we imagine. This time of year is filled with all sorts of different things that you don’t normally have to do, like decorating, gift giving, wrapping, and the many extra tasks that add up quickly. This year, make December sail by smoother with the help of these holiday hacks that are guaranteed to make the holidays a little easier on everyone. If you enjoy arts and crafts then you have to try your hand at one of the following projects. First, make an advent calendar out of a muffin tin by placing small treats, candies, and toys in each opening. After, use stickers to cover the holes and number them 1-24.
If you like the look of snow covered candles, but not the high price, make your own. Coat them with clear glue before rolling and coating them in Epsom salt. Another crafty project, that children will love, is making ornaments out of random, stray puzzle pieces. Have your kids glue some pieces together before painting them white and then sprinkle with glitter or adorn them with anything else you can think of.
Alternatively, there are a few decoration tips covered in the video which could make your life a whole lot easier. To hang a festive wreath on the front door without damaging it, press an adhesive hook on to the opposite side of where it’ll hang. That way, when you hang it as shown in the video, you’ll still be able to open and close the door. Another hanging trick is to use hot glue when putting up lights around a fireplace. It’s an invisible way to keep them securely in place and removing the glue is easy because it simply peels right off. If you find that watering your Christmas tree is always hard, messy, and difficult to do, make life easier and grab an old wrapping paper tube to use as a funnel. Pouring water down the tube allows you to neatly water the tree without spilling or having to get down on your hands and knees to reach the base.
Now it’s onto the cooking and baking holiday hacks! To easily and instantly impress guests or loved ones, make them a delicious cup of hot cocoa that is next level. Pour the cocoa in a mug, add whipped cream, then take a vegetable peeler and shave a chocolate bar so that the curls falls onto the cream. It will please their eyes, mouth, and tummy! If you’re baking something and accidentally crack some egg shell pieces into the bowl, remove it by wetting your fingers first with water. This makes it 100x easier, and neater, to fish the shells out. If and when you’re ever in a rush and need to quickly chill a bottle try this 10 minute method. Wrap a few damp paper towels around the bottle before placing it in the freezer for ten minutes, after which time it will be ready to enjoy.
Finally, the video goes over a few tips for wrapping presents, and if you ever run out of wrapping paper, head to the kitchen and grab tin foil or a brown paper bag. If you want a classic, traditional look wrap the gift in the foil, and for more low key, rustic look use brown paper bags. To dress up a plain old gift card try the following trick. Glue a candy cane to each side of a candy bar, stick a decoration or two on top, and prop the gift card up front and center. Hope some of these help!
