If you love searching for hidden characters in pictures then you have to try your eyes at the latest and greatest offering. This newest image was created by Ulises Farinas, an accomplished writer, illustrator, and artist. It was originally included in Where’s The Wookie?, a search and find activity book that’s similar in style to the world famous Where’s Waldo? book series.
Farinas chose to hide Chewbacca somewhere in a busy chaotic scene of a Jawa Market. It’s taking place in the city of Tatooine where the Jawas have parked their mobile sandcrawler. The page is crawling with countless numbers of Jawas who are in town selling droids to residents and the many others who have journeyed from far and wide. They’ve all come to get the goods on the cheap, as the Jawas are known for having unbeatable prices on parts and droids that they’ve scavenged. Concealed somewhere in the dull, dusty picture is Chewbacca but it’s extremely hard to find him because the illustration is composed of the muted browns and sand tones of the desert. The gangly wookie effortlessly blends right in with his shaggy brown, albeit silky and illustrious, hair covered body.
Much has been made of the recent resurgence in popularity of these types of puzzles. Part of the reason why so many people like them is because they’re challenging in a whole new and refreshing type of way. They seem so simple and easy, yet some of us truly get stumped by them and it can take awhile to find the hidden character. When we finally spot it, it’s like a moment of triumph and self-affirmation. At that point, when we’ve uncovered the panda or Chewbacca or whatever it is that’s hidden, we think to ourselves “Yes! You did it, good job, I am smart.” That’s a normal reaction that has been backed by research which shows that our brains take pleasure in searching for and finding things in this type of manner. It definitely helps to explain why these puzzles are so awesome and hot right now; they challenge and make us feel good. Do yourself a favor and make yourself feel great while simultaneously exercising your brain and eyes and find Chewbacca!
