A mother’s main job is to take care of her babies. Part of that job entails teaching her little ones important life lessons and ensuring that they’re prepared for when they step out into the real world. For one dog, that meant showing her puppy how to take the stairs and face his fears. After all, before the youngster could even get outside to the real world, he had to get down the steps first!
The adorable moment was caught on tape and the little puppy is clearly uncertain about the whole going downstairs head-first thing. He whines and cries in fear but his mother is very patient and right by his side. She demonstrates by going first and waits a few steps below, encouraging her baby to make his way to her. The scared little puppy slowly begins to make his way hesitantly down the stairs, whimpering with each step he takes, yet still wagging his fluffy little tail. You can see and feel the love between the two and the whole sight is just plain sweet and beautiful. Mom is a great teacher and after a few more trips up and down the stairs, this puppy will realize there is nothing to be afraid of, he likely won’t even think twice about racing down them.
This lovable canine moment stands in sharp contrast to the teaching methods sometimes employed by their feline counterparts. At the end of the clip, an adult cat is showing a younger kitten how to go down a flight of stairs. The curious youngster walks right up to the top of the steps without any hesitation and even starts on her way down before stopping to sniff her older friend. As soon as the kitty turns to head back down, the other cat reaches out a sneaky paw and taps her on the backside. The sudden touch scares the poor little kitten and sends her flying down the steps. While you can’t exactly see what happens, you can hear a loud crashing noise as she lands below. Hopefully she landed on all fours like most cats do and didn’t get hurt from her little tumble.
You’d think cats would be more the more graceful of the two, even if they aren’t as gentle as dogs! I guess this can be chalked up to one of the many differences between cats and dogs.
