Do You Ever Get An Itch Inside Your Ear? This Is What It Means and What You Can Do For It.

الصفحة الرئيسية

An itch that you can’t scratch can be pure torture. Anyone who has ever experienced the feeling knows exactly how terrible it feels. There are many inopportune places to develop an un-scratchable sensation, but one of the worst possible areas by far that you can get such an itch is inside your ear.
When all you want to do is itch your ear and find some relief, you can’t. That’s because the inner ear is practically impossible to safely reach. It’s an odd spot to develop an itch in the first place, but there are a couple of reasons as to why this sometimes happens to us. One possible thing that can cause itchy ears is when a person has ultra sensitive neurological fibers. These are the tiny fibers that line our inner ears and their increased sensitivity can lead to frequent feelings of itchiness. Another possible factor that may cause itchiness is dry skin. It’s no secret that flaky, itchy dry skin feels terrible and that combined with a lack of natural ear wax can lead to the insides of our ears feeling very dry and uncomfortable.
The human inner ear is naturally super sensitive, regardless of whether or not you have the above mentioned extra-sensitive fibers. Even just a minor disturbance or a sudden change can lead to a sudden onset of itchy ears. The most common causes are allergic reactions, ear infections, water in the ear, hearing aid or headphone induced irritation, and sometimes even psoriasis can trigger an itch. For more additional causes, that are covered in greater detail, refer to the accompanying video. It goes over what is mentioned here and more, so be sure to check it out and learn something new.
As impossible and annoying as it may seem, there are ways to treat itchy ears. However, before we delve into all that, it should be mentioned that the most important thing you should NOT do is stick a Q-tip or anything like one in your ear! All that does is push dirt and wax further into your ear, which greatly increases your chances of developing a painful infection, blockage, injury, or damage.
Instead of reaching for a Q-tip or suffering in vain, try one of these simple, all-natural, and effective home remedies to treat a minor case of itchy ears:
Aloe Vera:
If you have an Aloe Vera plant at home you can cut a small piece from it to use for this because you’ll only need a few drops of the gel. Tilt your head to the side and place 3-5 drops of the aloe vera in your ear. Allow it to rest there for several seconds before tipping it out. What the aloe does is work to coat the inner ear and helps to restore pH levels back to normal. In addition to that, it also soothes and heals dry, itchy, irritated ears because of its natural anti-inflammatory properties.
Alcohol and Vinegar:
For this treatment simply mix together equal parts rubbing alcohol and distilled white vinegar in a small container. Take a cotton ball, soak it in the liquid, and tilt your head so that the ear you wish to treat is facing upwards. Slowly and gently squeeze the cotton ball over your ear so that only a few drops of the solution get released into the ear opening. Stay still and wait a minimum of 5-10 seconds before straightening your head again. Use a tissue to dab up the remaining liquid that drips out and do not overuse this method because rubbing alcohol can dry out ears and that only makes an itch worse.
Warm Oil:
There are several oils that you can use to treat itchy ears and the following ones work excellent at providing relief; coconut oil, vegetable oil, olive oil, and tea tree oil *that has been diluted. To prepare the oils simply warm up about one teaspoon full to a comfortable temperature. Take a dropper, tilt your head to the side, and use it to place several drops in your ear. After about a minute or two straighten your head back up to clear the oil out and clean up any excess with a tissue.
Hydrogen Peroxide:
This one is super easy, just mix equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide. With your head tilted to one side, use a dropper to place some of the solution into the bothersome ear, then tilt your head back and allow the liquid to run out. Repeat if necessary and use a tissue to absorb and clean up the remaining liquid as it drips out.
The next time your ear acts us and feels super itchy, try one of these at home remedies and put an end to it before it drives you mad!
